Maison de l’Alsace

At 39 avenue des Champs-Élysées, in the very heart of the avenue, the Maison de l’Alsace is the region’s embassy in Paris. It occupies a Haussmann building of more than 2,000 m² on the capital’s most prestigious avenue, above the L’Alsace brasserie, a Champs-Élysées institution since 1968.

Backed by the two Alsace départements, the Maison promotes Alsace to Parisians, decision-makers and visitors from all over the world: culture, gastronomy, tourism and business. After forty years of activity, it was renovated in 2014 to become a venue for events, communication and business meetings, with reception rooms, a business centre and views over the avenue.

Each season, its “Alsace events in Paris” programme brings together concerts, exhibitions and shows. And every December, the Maison keeps one of Alsace’s finest traditions alive on the Champs-Élysées: the visit of Saint Nicholas.

Saint Nicholas on the Champs-Élysées

On 3 December 2014, as night falls, Saint Nicholas takes his place outside the Maison de l’Alsace. A children’s choir in traditional costume sings beneath the avenue’s lights, the saint hands out gingerbread and sweets to passers-by, and hot chocolate offered by the evening’s partner warms the crowd gathered in front of the façade.

The Maison de l’Alsace entrusted us with the photo coverage of the event. The challenge: to convey the prestige of the venue and the avenue, the warmth of an Alsatian Christmas celebration and the emotion of the crowd, in demanding lighting conditions between shop-window lights, garlands and nightfall.

  • HD coverage: façade and signs, Saint Nicholas, the choir, the public and partners, shot full frame while keeping the golden atmosphere of the Champs-Élysées.
  • Post-production: selection, retouching and colour correction on a calibrated screen.
  • Express delivery: ten processed photos delivered the same evening, the other seventy the next day.

A lasting relationship

Pleased with the coverage, the Maison de l’Alsace came back to us in spring 2015, this time to photograph its new reception rooms after renovation: twenty HD photographs, including ten stitched panoramas, to present the event spaces to companies and event organisers.
